2-3-2-2-1 - 5-3-1 Tactic for 8.0.2 and 8.0.1 Premiership teams

Firstly, let me direct you to some source that have inspired my tactic...

Team instructions

The tactic is based around having 2 good allround MCs to distribute the ball and control play. The foward, wingers, MCs and defensive midfielder all have high closing down to pressure the opposition.

Now some position descriptions

DCs: I like to have 2 centrebacks who are dominant in the air - because of the high closing down the opposition with resort to long balls alot of the time which you need to dominate! If the oppositions strikers have more pace than your centrebacks try and knock the defensive line down 2 notches.

Fullsbacks: Must be good defensively and have good stamina/pace. They don't get foward too much as they will distribute the ball to the midfield most of the time. Good passing attribute is desirable (15+).

DMC: Would be preferable to have a DMC who can pay CB also, but at the very least be good in the air and a strong defender. Good creative stats is a bonus - if your DMC doesn't have such great creative stats put his creative freedom on team. Generally he is just there to clean up and hussle the opposition.

MCs: Most important position - must be allround midfielders ala Fabregas etc. Must have lots of stamina, good mental stats (Desicions and creativity in particular) and passing is a must.

Wingers: The right winger has a slightly greater attacking mentality to play higher up the pitch. Must have good dribbling, crossing and pace.

ST: I have only tried this tactic with pzcey strikers, but someone has had lots of success using Huntelaar. Must be a pacey striker, or a big, strong header.

I have implemented the 2-6-2 system on this tactic - only the 2 centrebacks have a defensive mentality. DL,DMC,DR,MC,MC and AML are all set to team. FC has a higher mentality, and AMR also - to link up more.

I do not change this tactic whether I am home or away. My Newcastle team went unbeaten in the league at home for 2 seasons Smile In the second season we won 19/19 games.

The only tweak I make is if the opposition strikers have more pace than my CBs - I will then knock my defensive line down 2 notches.

I've found that my defense got much better as they got used to the tactic, so don't give up after a game or two!

This tactic is untested for teams outside of the top tier. If you want to test it - be my guest, I imagine you will only need to lessen the creative freedom.

I suck at explaning things so I hope I made it reasonably clear!

I know some people struggle downloading from some sites, so if anyone could download it and upload to another site I'd be eternally grateful, thanks!

my test

I am playing with Peterboro and have scraped into the Championship. Away at Reading who were 11-1 on to win, were top of the table with 100 points and we are struggling down in 14th.

1-0 down at halftime but playing ok my teamtalk was sympathy with have faith for the 2 guys on only a 6 rating.

2-0 down after 57, then a far post cross was put in by my AML.

67 minutes and fresh striker rounds the keeper 2-2.

2 minutes later and my AMR volleys home 3-2.

Reading get a dubious penalty on 86 which they duly convert. 3-3 surely that was the end.....

5 minutes injury time. 97 mins and 50 secs a 2nd corner is headed home and we win 4-3 away at Reading. Their first home loss all season.

I know it's only one game but it looks very good.

Enjoy!
